Words & a pic — May 2, 2016

12961270_10154161296373408_7087458193482440739_oWe recently spent a morning in Kruger Park. It was the first time Amy and I visited the park together. (She had been one other time with a Work & Witness team, but it was my first time there). After just 15 minutes, I spotted this Lilac-breasted roller. Since the sexes are alike in coloration, I’m not sure whether this is Mr. Roller or Mrs. Roller. If you’re a birder, feel free to weigh-in with a comment.

I used a 16 megapixel Nikon CoolPix with a 30x zoom lens. Amy taught me how to use the macro setting for long distance shots, which makes your subject in sharp focus but creates a soft background.

Today’s African proverb — from Mozambique

“I you want to catch a monkey, behave like one.”

Sunday morning, I preached at the Regents Park Church of the Nazarene, which is our home church when we’re not traveling elsewhere in Africa. The pastor, Rev Hubert Tiger, has organized a preaching series on the 7 churches mentioned in the early chapters of Revelation. My sermon is based on the letter to the church in Thyatira (Rev 2:18-28). Click here to read it.
